1. Introduction
WIRE 2026 is an official event of Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the European Union and will take place in Limerick, Ireland on 2–3 December 2026.
This Privacy Notice explains how personal data is collected, used, stored and protected in connection with WIRE 2026.

Personal data may be processed for the following purposes:
- Managing event registration and accreditation
-Communicating with attendees about WIRE 2026

-Evaluating the event and producing statistical reports

6. Registration and accreditation data
Registration and accreditation for WIRE 2026 will be managed through a third-party platform administered by the relevant Presidency registration authorities.
For registration platform data, DFHERIS/DFAT are the data controller(s) and TUS acts as a data processor, in accordance with the agreed data governance arrangements.
TUS will access and process personal data only where necessary to support the planning and delivery of WIRE 2026 and in accordance with the agreed governance arrangements and access permissions.
Registration data may be used for:
-Delegate registration and accreditation
- Event logistics and operational planning
-Security and access management
-Delegate communications
-Attendance reporting and funding compliance, where applicable
7. Accessibility and dietary requirements
We may collect information about accessibility requirements and dietary requirements to ensure that attendees can participate in the conference safely and comfortably.
Where you voluntarily provide information relating to a medical or accessibility requirement, this information will only be accessed and used where necessary to arrange appropriate support for your attendance.
8. Photography, filming and livestreaming
Photography and filming will take place during WIRE 2026. Selected conference sessions may also be livestreamed and recorded.
Photographs and recordings may be used for purposes connected with the communication, reporting, documentation and promotion of WIRE 2026 and may be made available through relevant event and organisational communication channels.
Further information about photography, filming and livestreaming arrangements, including how to opt-out of the process, will be provided to attendees at the event.
9. Who may have access to your data?
Access to personal data will be limited to authorised individuals and organisations where necessary for the planning and delivery of WIRE 2026.
Depending on the purpose and type of information, this may include relevant personnel within:
-Technological University of the Shannon (TUS)
-The Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science (DFHERIS)
-The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFAT)
-The European Commission, where applicable
-Approved third-party service providers and event suppliers
Any sharing of personal data will take place in accordance with the agreed governance arrangements and applicable data protection legislation.

Appropriate technical and organisational measures will be used to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

Personal data will only be retained for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and in accordance with applicable institutional and project retention requirements.
Specific retention periods for WIRE 2026 registration data, accessibility information, attendance records, photographs and recordings are currently being finalised in accordance with the project's data governance arrangements.
